Welcome To Carneros Press... A loaf of bread, a glass of wine and a good book -- that's about all many of us need to be happy. While I'm willing to leave the art of bread making and winemaking to those who truly excel at those arts, fine books on wine, food and life are another story. I started Carneros Press with a dream of creating the kind of books that I like to read -- stories about people living their dreams as well as books that are relevant contributions to knowledge, whether those contributions are in the form of a terrific new cookbook, a tasting guide to a particular wine variety or region, or an essay on the joys of wine, food and/or life. The four books published so far by Carneros Press couldn't be closer to that vision and yet further apart in terms of subject matter. The just-released Clos Pepe: A Vigneron's Quest For Great Dirt, by Stephen P. Pepe, is a compelling memoir of change and exploration with the culmination being the creation of one of the finest Pinot Noir vineyards and wine brands in California. Chalone: A Journey On The Wine Frontier is at once the story of Chalone Vineyards co-founder Phil Woodward's personal vision for a wine business as well as the journeys he and many others have taken to live their dreams. My Heroes: Complete Records Of Pacific Coast League Stars From The '30s, '40s And '50s, by James Rebollini is more than just a baseball statistics book; it's a tribute and testament to lesser-known, but no less important contributors to America's favorite past time. Voices Of Older Women: What They Want To Say… Why You’re Not Listening, by Arloa Jane Walter, continues this vision with a revealing look at what older women think about life and the rapidly changing world around them. -- Gregory S. Walter, Publisher, Carneros Press
